AI has been a topic of much discussion in recent years, with some people embracing its advancements such as the creation of realistic portraits and language models like ChatGPT, while others have concerns about its impact. After much consideration, my conclusion is that AI will not cause job loss. In fact, it may even generate new job opportunities.
What happened when the internet came out
January 1, 1983, is considered the official birthdate of the Internet. Since then, the internet has seen consistent growth, revolutionizing various industries such as commerce and education. Although it was expected that the internet would lead to the decline of traditional practices such as sending physical mail, it has not led to the downfall of these industries, but rather the opposite.
With the inception of Email, the number of paper letters sent might have been reduced but it also brought on E-commerce, giants like Amazon, and eBay creating a boon in the delivery industry.
The internet did not hamper the teaching industry rather it boosted it. Good teachers became widely available, and the resources that were only available to some students were now for everyone. I can bet on it, if you want to learn something there is a course for it on the internet.
The newspaper industry moved on from physical paper to electronic media. There are 24/7 live streams of News channels made possible due to the internet.
Some fields might not even exist today If not for the internet. Streaming services, Social media, e-commerce, and the whole concept of Working from home were made possible because of the internet.
I can go on and on about how the internet has changed the way we live in today's world.
The internet did come with its fair share of issues such as social media addiction, online fraud, and hacking, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.
I think the same will happen with AI, we might not be able to think of many positive cases yet but neither would have i guessed in 1983 that some random dude from India will be writing an article about AI and people will have access to it around the world.
Learn to Adapt
Physical Newspapers moved on to Digital newspapers. The film industry moved on from cinema to OTT. Trade and commerce moved on to E-Commerce. All these industries are still there and thriving because they adapted to the new ways that the world worked in.
You don't have to worry about it you will have enough time to adapt. The internet did not go from 1G to 5G overnight it took time, but you have to be ready to adapt.
Try using ChatGPT for that matter.
Let's Look at some Advantages of AI now
1. The role of text generation models in helping non-native English speakers communicate effectively
The first paragraph that you just read was initially written by me, but then I rephrased it using ChatGPT.
Pretty Cool right!
Both sentences convey the same meaning but the ChatGPT version is much cleaner.
While English is widely spoken around the world, there are many individuals with valuable insights who may have difficulty expressing themselves effectively. In these situations, text generation models such as ChatGPT can prove to be incredibly beneficial.
2. Predictive Maintenance
AI can be used for Predictive Maintenance in various industries, it can predict when a machine or equipment is likely to fail, allowing for preventative maintenance to be scheduled before the failure occurs.
This can be really useful in nuclear power plants.
3. Cost savings
AI can automate tasks, reducing the need for human labor, which can lead to cost savings for businesses.
Conclusion
Yes AI, will change the world in ways we might not even have imagined yet. Humans always tend to fear the unknown but those who adapt to change are the ones who thrive. If you are in the Tech industry learn about AI, Ml, and data science, if you are in the art industry try using image generators to create references for your art. you know what let's ask ChatGPT, what it thinks.
Hey ChatGPT what do you think
I would really love to hear your views, leave them down in the comments.
